New Root Tip

Because most nutrients are absorbed by new root tissue (root hairs), it is as important for plants to maintain optimal hormone balance to keep continuous root tips forming as it is to have adequate nutrients in the soil. The lack of cell division in root tips is a result of insufficient amounts of two key plant hormones – auxin and cytokinin. Without adequate root growth, plants will not be able to absorb sufficient nutrients, even in fertile soil.
